6:00 pm - Peace Witness - 7:30 pm - Candle

American Friends Service Committee’s
“Not One More
Death, Not One More Dollar”
2000
Too Many -- $200 Billion Too Much!
Tallahassee joined More than 1500 Other
Cities In Pro-Peace Majority Events in responding to the 2000th US Military
Death in Iraq. Local members of Gold Star Families for Peace, Code Pink,
Tallahassee Network for Peace and Justice, Veterans for Peace, Veterans
for Common Sense, and Vietnam Veterans Against the War and friends joined
to mourn all the hundreds of thousands that died in BATTLEFIELD IRAQ in
the last two years as part of American Friends Service Committee’s “Not
One More Death. Not One More Dollar” campaign. AFSC,
Code Pink, and MoveOn.org
supporters across the nation organized more than 1500 events in 50 states
that took place the day following the 2,000th reported U.S. military death
in Iraq. Events ranged from candlelight vigils to the ceremonial ringing
of the bells in memory of the U.S. service people and more than 100,000
Iraqis who have lost their lives and the 100,000 plus Iraqi children dying
of acute malnutrition today. The events will begin a push to urge
Congress to use the power of the purse to end the war, bring the troops
home, close U.S. bases in Iraq, and instead fund the human needs laid bare
by Hurricane Katrina. Details on all “Not One More Death. Not One More
Dollar” events are available of AFSC’s website at http://.afsc.org/2000.
