item 7 2000 Peace Cranes 02NOV2007
Inspired by some group members, we thought we would shift focus on this next project to the concept of peace.

On November 2, the First Friday in November, we propose that we place two thousand ivory origami cranes in the sculpture garden at the entrance to Railroad Square.

This installation has a personal, local significance as well; it will serve as a memorial to Julian McMackin Woodall, Meredith McMackin’s son, a Marine killed in Iraq in May of this year, who loved to make these cranes as a child.

If you would like a packet of materials to make cranes, please reply by email or call Su Ecenia at 545-3869. is my new address

Sign the petition to reject the Bush Administration's sweeping claims of executive privilege and to take whatever steps are necessary to enforce these subpoenas, including supporting a resolution holding Harriet Miers and Josh Bolten in contempt.
The idea that a president has the power to decide on his own what the law is would be laughable if it wasn’t really happening. But it is, and it represents a terrifying threat to our system of government and the basic individual rights the Constitution protects. This president is determined to grab ever more power for the executive branch.

History Will Not Absolve Us
Nat Hentoff writes for The Village Voice: "If we, the people, are ultimately condemned by a world court for our complicity and silence in these war crimes, we can always try to echo those Germans who claimed not to know what Hitler and his enforcers were doing. But in Nazi Germany, people had no way of insisting on finding out what happened to their disappeared neighbors."

ISRAEL-OPT: Ban on truckloads of paper set to hit Gaza schools
