Often people ask how they got on this list. Well. I've given up spending a lot of time asking why about anything, especially horrible things, happen. I'm far more interested in how to fix it.
But anyway, there are several methods to get on this list.

2] Have a mutual friend with me that sends both of us a post.
3] Post to a list serve I'm on.

item 5 The Great Silent Grandmother Gathering 13MAY2007
The women of Ohio, U.S.A., call upon the women of the world, from day-old babies to our most senior elders, to stand with us on May 13, 2007, to save the world. Our project is based on Sharon Mehdi's book The Great Silent Grandmother Gathering. If you don't know the story, a summary of the original version is on the website http://www.standingwomen.org

If you think it is appropriate, please send this message on to all of the women throughout the world who you think might like to join us. We will be standing for the world's children and grandchildren, and for the seven generations beyond them.

We dream of a world where all of our children have safe drinking water, clean air to breathe, and enough food to eat. A world where they have access to a basic education to develop their minds and healthcare to nurture their growing bodies. A world where they have a warm, safe, and loving place to call home. A world where they don't live in fear of violence--in their home,
in their neighborhood, in their school, or in their world. This is the world of which we dream.

This is the cause for which we will stand.

If you share this dream, please stand with us for five minutes of silence at 1 p.m. your local time on May 13, 2007, in front of the Old Capitol to signify your agreement with this statement. We ask you to invite the men and
boys who you care about to join you. We ask that you bring bells to ring at 1 p.m. to signify the beginning of the five minutes of silence and to ring again to signify the end of the period of
silence.

1-Majority of Iraqi Lawmakers Now Reject Occupation By Raed Jarrar and Joshua Holland 09 May 2007 On Tuesday, without note in the U.S. media, more than half of the members of Iraq's parliament rejected the continuing occupation of their country. 144 lawmakers signed onto a legislative petition calling on the United States to set a timetable for withdrawal, according to Nassar Al-Rubaie, a spokesman for the Al Sadr movement, the nationalist Shia group that sponsored the petition.

2-IRAQ: Drug abuse among children on the rise
BAGHDAD, 9 May (IRIN) - The increase in drug abuse among children and youths in Iraq is worrying specialists who say continued violence is responsible for the rising number of users - something that is compounded by the easy availability of different narcotics.

3-Iraq War General: "Mr. President, You Did Not Listen"
The anti-war veterans group, VoteVets.org, which has been influential with Capitol Hill Democrats, is launching a half-million-dollar TV ad campaign featuring Major General John Batiste (Ret.), former commanding general of the first infantry division in Iraq. The ad begins with a clip of President George Bush saying, "I have always said that I will listen to the requests of our commanders on the ground." Batiste then appears, saying, "Mr. President, you did not listen."

4-Patrick Cockburn | A Small War Guaranteed to Damage a Superpower
Patrick Cockburn writes: "The extent of the military failure over the previous three and a half years was extraordinary. The foreign media never quite made clear how little territory the US and the Iraqi army fully controlled - even in the heart of Baghdad."

5-US Commander Apologizes for Massacre
A US Army brigade commander in Afghanistan yesterday told the families of 69 civilians who were killed or wounded by members of an elite Marine Special Forces unit in March that he is "deeply, deeply ashamed" about the incident, describing the series of shootings along a civilian thoroughfare as a "terrible, terrible mistake."

6-We Soldiers Once Assumed Our political Bosses Would Not Lie To Us. That Is Over
By Leo Docherty:
We realized the issue was not replacing tyranny with democracy, but gaining long-term access to oil. Blair, in bowing to American oil-mad energy hunger, had deployed the British Army on a lie, a much bigger lie than the one about WMDs. Today, the appalling sectarian violence killing hundreds of Iraqi civilians every week is the direct result of our invasion and botched occupation.
