Often people ask how they got on this list. Well. I've given up spending a lot of time asking why about anything, especially horrible things, happen. I'm far more interested in how to fix it.
But anyway, there are several methods to get on this list.

1] Put your email address down at anything or anywhere that looks like the stuff I post.
2] Have a mutual friend with me that sends both of us a post.
3] Post to a list serve I'm on.
4] Be recommended by a friend.

=item 6 Memorial Day 27MAY2007
As citizens, we honor and support our troops for their service and sacrifice.
As Americans, we are blessed by that sacrifice and support, which keeps us safe and keeps us strong.
As patriots, we call on our government to support our troops in the most important way it can - by ending this war and bringing them home.

This Memorial Day weekend, we will all take responsibility for the country we love and the men and women who protect it. We will volunteer, we will pray, and we will speak out. In the days leading up to Memorial Day, we will take action to support our troops, end the war, and bring them home to the heroes' welcome they deserve. And on Memorial Day, we will honor and remember all those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Each of us has a responsibility to act, a duty to our troops and to each other. Support the troops. End the war.

There are many ways we can take action this Memorial Day weekend to support the troops and end the war. Start with one of the 10 ideas listed below -- ranging from care packages for the troops to public gatherings speaking out against the war. Or show your support in your own unique way. And on Memorial Day, take a action to remember and honor the fallen.

1-Why I Fight by Tom Baxter
Now at the fourth anniversary of the proclamation of ‘Mission Accomplished’ and the ‘end of major combat operations’ of ‘Operation Iraq Liberation’ I have been standing on Thursdays and Sundays in front of Florida’s Old Capitol with my antiwar signs for almost six years in the 'Eternal Peace Vigil'. People have asked, “Why?” Some of the reasons are the lives and deaths of Dwight H Johnson, David Funchess and Jeffrey Lucey...

2-IRAQ: Thousands of Iraqis have been fleeing Diyala province - and others fleeing villages from within the province - over the past week after an increase in attacks by armed groups and a major offensive by US and Iraqi troops.

3- IRAQ: Child mortality soars because of violence, poor health care
A recent report by the US-based NGO Save the Children says that although Iraq's under-five mortality rate is in the middle range when compared to other developing countries, it has worsened faster than in any other country. Observers say the main reason for this is the continuing violence and lack of funds for the health sector.

4-IRAQ: Majdy Imad, Iraq "I can't stand the life of an orphan anymore"
My parents and sisters were killed in our home when a gang forced them to leave the house. When they refused, they were all shot dead. No one was there to help them.

5-ROVING IN THE RED ZONE
'The cultivation of life'
By Pepe Escobar
BAGHDAD - Popular wisdom in Iraq rules that Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, with a simple fatwa, or even a single word, could bring the US occupation to an abrupt end. So why doesn't he?

In the impossibility to pose this half-trillion-dollar question to the grand ayatollah himself (he does not grant interviews to foreigners, and has never even bothered to receive US occupation)

6-The Good American
By Scott Ritter
That we have collectively failed to halt and repudiate the war in Iraq makes us even worse than the Germans.

7-Doing It for Themselves
The Florida tomato pickers of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers rolled into Chicago in blustery April, ready to stand before McDonald's corporate headquarters and press their demands that the fast-food behemoth take responsibility for the miserable way its tomatoes are farmed. It proved unnecessary. As more than 1,000 tomato pickers and their allies wound their way to Chicago, McDonald's unexpectedly agreed to all of the coalition's demands.

The Tally activist community hasn't had a dynamic online community in the two yrs. since the IMC was hacked (with any luck that project will soon be resurrected, too!).

Check it out! Sign-up for a blog (all registered users have blogging rights!), it's now a dynamic online community based on the Drupal blogging software (just like the big blogging communities). All that's required is YOUR participation. Spread the word!
